The Sealyham is undoubtedly one of the prettiest terriers, sporting a white coat. The head and ears may have lemon, tan or badger markings. The coat is a double coat. The undercoat is soft and dense and the outer coat is hard and wiry and weather resistant; which may be straight and flat or wavy in texture.
Sealyham eyes are medium-sized, dark brown, almost black colored, deep set and fairly wide apart. Sometimes Sealyham does not have eye ring pigmentation, and this is acceptable in the breed.
A Sealy nose is black.
The teeth are strong, fit well together to form a scissors bite or a level bite. Although the Sealyham is a small dog, it moves at a very quick pace. When the Sealyham begins to hunt, he becomes single-minded in purpose and works tirelessly. Because this breed is obedient and good-natured, this terrier can be successfully obedience-ring and field trained.
The Sealyham should be the embodiment of power and determination, ever keen and alert, of extraordinary substance, yet free of clumsiness. The Sealyham neck is muscular yet graceful, and flows smoothly from the head to throat with refinement. If the neck is in proportion it will fit well into laid-back and powerful shoulders which are sufficiently wide for the size. Upright or forward shoulders are highly undesireable in this breed.
The chest should drop back well down between his legs. The level back measures the same from shoulders to tail set as the height of the animal (10 1/2-11"). The Sealyham's hind quarters are powerful and protruding beyond the docked tail which is carried straight up. This is a dog of extraordinary substance, and the legs and body should be well boned and well muscled. The front feet are large and compact with thick pads and strong nails The Sealyham rear feet are small and compact. To maintain the Sealyham's healthy appearance, his coat requires regular brushing.
